OUTFITS
Peter Tögel Photography believes that there is no rule regarding what to wear on the day of your shoot. We believe everybody is different for a special reason and is perfect in their own way!
We understand it can be a little intimidating to have your picture taken. Even if it is just a photo taken on an iPhone that is taken by a friend, you still want to look nice, make sure nothing is in your teeth, and that your hair is behaving! We realize that preparing for your engagement session can be a little overwhelming. Here are some tips for outfits and accessories that will make your engagement session preparation much more manageable!
• Empty all your pockets! Literally. You don't want to have keychains, wallets, or phones showing through your pockets.
• If you wear light colors, keep in mind that light can make undergarments shine through. We recommend flesh-toned undergarments when wearing white garments.
• When it comes to shirts, think about your neckline. In front of a camera, a v-neck seems to lengthen your neck while a round neckline will tend to shorten your neck. A collar usually helps to frame your face and a collared shirt with a v-neck or a few buttons undone works great. As turtlenecks will completely hide your neck, you should probably avoid them for the photoshoot.
• Don't be afraid to be bold! Accessorize and make your outfits your own! Scarves, bold necklaces, and fun shoes are always welcome!
• Most patterns are usually good; however, graphics are not favorable for your engagement portraits. If you are wearing a pattern, make sure it's not overwhelming or distracting.
• Spray tans can be great, just remember, the lighter, the better. Even the prettiest spray tan that looks great in person can look very orange in pictures.
• Sometimes, couples like to have one everyday outfit, and then one dressier outfit. This will give your session two different "looks."
• We recommend beginning with the dressy outfit first. That way, you can get rid of those heels and get into something more comfortable! If you have only one outfit, wear something nice. We understand the temptation to wear jeans and a t-shirt or jumper, but you will be looking back at your photos for years to come and will be glad that you made an effort!
• Make sure that you are comfortable with what you are wearing. And ladies, if the top is very low cut, keep in mind that it will limit the number of angles that we can photograph from.
• Be on time! The sun is only out for so long! The later you arrive, the less time we will have time to photograph you! And nobody wants that!
• Clean the ring! We love to capture a few ring shots for you. The cleaner, the better!
• Relax! Remember, it is all about the eyes! Your eyes are the windows into your soul. Your eyes are one of, if not the single most important parts of a good photograph. Please come rested, relaxed, and in a positive frame of mind.
